INCLUSIVE

Democracy

Democracy can serve as a pathway to prosperity when the process is participatory, involves all governance actors, and upholds the principle of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) in Indonesia’s development. There are four key governance actors: political leaders, the bureaucracy, civil society, and the business sector.

The quality of public participation in democracy can be reflected in several aspects: political parties that are transparent and accountable, an electoral system that produces capable leaders, autonomy as a solution to local challenges, improved public services, civil society organizations (CSOs) functioning optimally, and an accountable business sector.

Since 2000, KEMITRAAN has been encouraging the implementation of inclusive democracy, where governance actors continuously strengthen their capacities and collaborative efforts between government, civil society organizations (CSOs), and the business sector are optimized to ensure that in the nation-building process no one is left behind.
