To achieve a better balance between economic growth, social justice, and environmental goals, green development must be implemented in Indonesia. KEMITRAAN completed the Green Economy Project in Indonesia during 2018–2019 with three main objectives:
- Promoting effective instruments and tools for Green Development in Indonesia
- Promoting the effective implementation of the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) as a tool for green economic development
- Generating public interest and demand for green development.
The project used both technocratic and non-technocratic approaches in shaping the Regional Development Plans. This methodology supported the implementation of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA / KLHS) in two RPJMD documents in East Kalimantan Province and Jambi Province. Therefore, KEMITRAAN prepared two documents to introduce the Green Development Initiative in both provinces as pilot project areas. These two documents feature a gap analysis in the ecological, economic, social, and institutional aspects of East Kalimantan and Jambi Provinces.
