Job Purpose
The GEDSI-IP Consultant will support the implementation of Phase II of the Enhancing Access to Benefits while Lowering Emissions (EnABLE) project by ensuring meaningful and inclusive engagement of women, vulnerable groups, persons with disabilities, and Indigenous Peoples within the East Kalimantan Emission Reduction Program. This role focuses on gender mainstreaming and social inclusion, as well as strengthening the recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ rights and knowledge in sustainable forest management and carbon and non-carbon benefit-sharing schemes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Gender and Social Inclusion
- Conduct gender and social inclusion assessments within the EnABLE project.
- Develop GEDSI mainstreaming strategies and activity plans.
- Ensure community-based planning modules are inclusive of women and vulnerable groups.
- Provide technical assistance and capacity building for project staff and partners.
2. Indigeneous Peoples
- Conduct assessments of Indigenous Peoples’ communities in the project areas.
- Coordinate with government agencies, CSOs, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, and academia.
- Develop strategies to enhance Indigenous Peoples’ participation and benefits within the FCPF framework.
- Support the integration of traditional knowledge into low-carbon livelihood plans.
3. Inclusive Communication and Dissemination
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop inclusive and accessible materials.
- Ensure women and Indigenous Peoples have access to information related to the ERP and benefit-sharing mechanisms.
4. Training and Capacity Strengthening
- Organize trainings and Training of Trainers (ToT) related to GEDSI and ERP.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Monitor the impacts of activities on marginalized groups.
- Support the preparation of reports for donors and stakeholders.
Expected Outputs
- GEDSI strategy and implementation framework.
- Inclusive community-based planning modules.
- Communication materials that are accessible to marginalized groups.
- Activity reports, lessons learned, and good practices.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Development, Environmental Studies, or related fields.
- A Bachelor’s degree with strong field experience may be considered.
Experiences
- At least 5 years of experience in gender, social inclusion, and/or Indigenous Peoples’ empowerment.
- Experience working in East Kalimantan is a plus.
- Proven experience working with CSOs/NGOs and Indigenous Peoples’ communities.
- Strong facilitation and training skills.
- Good understanding of national and local policies related to gender and Indigenous Peoples.
