SUSTAINABLE
Development
Development has a noble goal: to create social welfare. Currently, economic benefits have not been felt by all Indonesians, including vulnerable groups. This is evident in the widening income disparity among Indonesians.
The acceleration of development in various sectors, particularly land-based ones, has given rise to numerous problems: conflicts over land tenure, living space, and livelihoods, particularly among indigenous peoples and other vulnerable groups. Disparities in access to natural resources in Indonesia are also quite wide. As a result, 10.2 million people living in 25,863 villages in and around forest areas remain poor, while government programs (Agrarian Reform and Social Forestry) have only partially resolved these conflicts.
KEMITRAAN aims to ensure that government efforts to achieve development targets continue to address the impacts on the environment and human ecosystems, ensuring that no one is left behind. This is achieved by promoting development that prioritizes the preservation of natural resources and social welfare, particularly the interests of vulnerable groups and the capabilities of future generations.
